Choosing the Right Material.
With a wide variety of options and colors available, how do you know the right one to choose? Asphalt shingles, either 3-tab or architectural, is the typical choice followed by metal at a close second. Each of these materials comes with their own pros and cons, warranties and lifespans. The roofing material you choose will be dependent on your location and the type of home you are building or living in.
ARCHITECTURAL SHINGLES:
Typically, architectural shingles come with a lifetime warranty, up to 50 years. Anything can happen within that lifetime, including storm damage and typical wear and tear due to faulty installation or exposure to the elements.
In order to maintain the integrity of your architectural shingle roof system, it is recommended to have routine maintenance performed by licensed professionals such as Elite Roofing and Restoration every 3 to 5 years. By keeping track of potential small problems along the way, you protect your roof and more importantly your home.
METAL ROOFING SYSTEMS:
Metal roofs are unique in their own right, as they are generally considered hassle free. However, it is still recommended to have routine inspections and it is important to provide general maintenance every 5-7 years to avoid any potential issues.
