Metal Roofing Systems.

PROS:

  • Lower in maintenance than shingles

  • Energy efficient and weather resistant

  • Made from recycled materials and recyclable if replaced

  • Variety of profile options and colors, also paintable

  • Lifespan of 60 years with regular maintenance

  • Lower maintenance than asphalt shingles

  • Potential for lower insurance premiums

CONS:

  • Higher costs upfront

  • If installed improperly, these are not as energy efficient

  • Can be quite noisy during heavy rains and storms

Shingle Roofing Systems.

Shingle roofing systems come with a wide variety of colors and styles, giving you a large resource to sift through and the ability to perfectly pick your 15 to 30 year investment. At Elite Roofing and Restoration, we are Certified CertainTeed Shingle Master Select and GAF contractors, but we also install Owens Corning and others upon request.

3-TAB ASPHALT SHINGLES:

PROS:

  • Most cost-effective option

  • Wide variety of price points available

  • Wide variety of colors available

  • Easily absorbs heat, helping to make your home warmer in the winter months

CONS:

  • Wide variety of quality and grades available

  • Absorbs heat easily, making it hotter in the summer months

  • Shorter lifespan of 15 to 20 years

  • Not recyclable, made with toxic chemicals requiring proper disposal

  • Flat in appearance (no variations in textures or styles)

  • Lower reflective value than architectural 

  • Shows wear faster than architectural or metal

ARCHITECTURAL ASPHALT SHINGLES:

PROS:

  • Thicker and more durable than 3-Tab

  • More weather resistant

  • Higher wind uplift rating

  • Better algae retardant than other shingle types

  • Dimensional in appearance, more versatile options available 

  • Higher reflective value than 3-Tab

  • Longer lifespan/warranty of 25 to 30 years, depending upon manufacturer

  • Most cost effective over the life of the roof with regular maintenance

  • Can lower insurance premiums

CONS:

  • Higher upfront costs, about 40% more than 3-tab options
